Did you know November 18, is the date for the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout? You will never find a more advantageous time – or more assistance – for renouncing smoking. It is true this is only ONE DAY, but it is a beginning. This start can lead to a restored overall way of life.

Held once a year on the on the third Thursdays of November, the day was designed to underscore the dangers of smoking.

Additionally this day delivers a challenge to smokers to cease using tobacco.

Behind the festivities of the Great American Smokeout are the significant labors of thousands of hard-working American Cancer Society volunteers who call on schools, malls and workplaces to advertise the events and distribute information about relinquishing cigarettes and other forms of tobacco use. They also enlist nonsmokers to “adopt” smokers for the day, supporting them with assistance and snacks. The support continues for those who determine not to return to smoking after the Great American Smokeout is over.

Cigarettes encompass more than 4000 chemical compounds and at least 400 toxic ingredients.

Generally individuals recognize that smoking can instigate lung cancer, but it can also initiate many other cancers and disorders.

Most people know that smoking can cause lung cancer, but it can also cause many other cancers and illnesses.

Cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death due to smoking.

Hardening of the arteries is a process that develops over years, when cholesterol and other fats deposit in the arteries, leaving them narrow, blocked or rigid. When the arteries narrow (atherosclerosis), blood clots are likely to form.Smoking accelerates the hardening and narrowing process in your arteries: it starts earlier and blood clots are two to four times more likely.

Cardiovasular disease can take many forms depending on which blood vessels are involved, and all of them are more common in people who smoke.

Coronary thrombosis*- development of a thrombus that blocks a coronary artery, commonly causes myocardial infarction and death. Coronary thromboses commonly develop in segments of arteries with atherosclerotic lesions.

Simply stated this is a blood clot in the arteries supplying the heart, which can lead to a heart attack. Around 30 per cent are caused by smoking.

Cerebral thrombosis*-A blockage of blood flow through a vessel in the brain by a blood clot that formed in the brain itself.: the vessels to the brain can become blocked, which can lead to collapse, stroke and paralysis.

For anyone who is a smoker then you may need to know some of the reasons to give up smoking. This will help you to make the decision to stop cigarettes and will strengthen your resolve when the inevitable withdrawal discomforts occur. Only by knowing why you are doing something will you have the will power to follow through and at last stop smoking for good. So listed below are some of the main reasons to quit smoking.

You could describe the first reasons as rather superficial but they still affect how you feel about yourself plus your self esteem.

Smoking stains your teeth and can give you bad breath. It might seem shallow or vain but nearly all people desire a white smile (or certainly not an unsightly looking set of yellow teeth). They also don’t want to have to be eating gum or taking breath freshener each time they have a cigarette either.

Smoking can even give you smokers smell. Your hair and body can have that distinctive odor that marks you out as a smoker. Your outfits may also smell of it.

Another issue that may not be that important is the cost of cigarettes. They have been increasing significantly over the years. Anyone that has a smoking habit can look ahead to spend thousands each year to keep it going. Plus this price will only go up as governments see new taxes on cigarettes as a way to shape anti smoking policy.

On a more solemn note, nearly all research agrees that smoking is detrimental to your physical condition. For example, that shortness of breath that you have whenever you go for a run could possibly be the initial signs of emphysema. Emphysema destroys the lungs slowly to begin with and picks up pace as it becomes more advanced.

Smoking can also cause lung cancer, where carcinogens inhaled from cigarette smoke form tumors. The tumors develop within the passage ways in the lungs or throat blocking inhaling and exhaling. Aggressive lung cancers can utterly destroy the lungs.

One can find a bunch of other medical problems that are thought to be brought on or made worse by smoking. Many of these conditions are life threatening problems.

And ultimately, the final reason you should choose to give up smoking is for your loved ones and friends. For those who have children or grand children, you will want to see them develop and share in the key parts of their lives. Don’t let the threat of poor health due to cigarettes deprive you of this contentment.

If you want to quit smoking you don’t have to do it alone. Use a number of the give up smoking resources that can be found, for example support groups, which you’ll find throughout the world. You can also get several quit smoking aids, like patches, chewing gum and sprays to alleviate the cravings and withdrawal symptoms. There’s also things like hypnosis and neuro linguistic programming to alter your outlook to smoking. In actual fact, it doesn’t matter alot how you give up smoking only that you do give up smoking.

The smoking laws we see at the moment are radically different from those not too long ago. Even in comparison to just a decade ago there are a few dramatic differences in the smoking laws. Knowing the obligations that these laws and regulations impose on a business is important if you are to achieve success in operating a small to intermediate sized concern (well any size really). The reality is that there’s no way to uphold laws or meet their obligations if you do not even know what the laws and regulations are.

Nearly all eating houses and other businesses will not be allowed to have those that smoke indoors these days. This is certainly much different than just 4 or 5 years ago when you could saunter into more or less every store or business and you were permitted to smoke. Nonetheless this was changed in most facilities since the non-smokers felt like they had to sit around smoke whilst eating. There are still plenty of different places around the globe, where it remains legal to smoke in these styles of conveniences.

Even if you head to a bar these days you’ll likely be told that you have to go outside if you wish to have a cigarette. It is always imperative for business owners to concentrate on smoking laws to allow them to follow them and never break the law, intentionally or unintentionally. There are particular establishments like casinos that are usually able to permit smokes inside. If you do choose to tolerate smoking you will likely have to get a special permit for this.

At all times take into consideration who your target audience is and ensure you are focusing your enterprise around them, since it is these people who are going to bring in the cash for you. Restaurants for instance may well have young children inside and so it only makes sense that smoking would have been cut out from those sorts of places.

If you are thinking of operating a bar or casino as an illustration it might be in your best interests to permit smoking because the majority of people in these facilities do smoke. Folks prefer to smoke when they drink and gamble, so it is often a shrewd choice to allow smoking within your bar if you can.

It’s more than worthwhile to put time into setting up if you are just now starting a business. This is something that could make or break your business. Make it possible for your organization is most accessible and comfortable for your customers. Always take note of the smoking laws and remember the fact that they change all the time.

Before quitting smoking and deciding between stop smoking programs, quitters should first identify why they want to stop smoking. This helps them keep their goals in mind. Then, they should set a date at which they want to quit smoking. For example, smokers can stop smoking on the weekend if they are used to smoking during the week, or on a weekday if they are used to smoking during the weekend on their time off.

If you are trying to stop smoking, a crucial step should be to identify any stumbling blocks to achieving your goal. For example, if you are living with someone who smokes, it may be harder for you to stop. Another way to ensure success is to identify what things make you want to smoke. This way you are prepared to overcome the desire to smoke. Finally, enlist the aid of those around you. They can help you avoid temptation.

Nicotine medication is a great alternate source to help a smoker quit smoking. It provides a small dose of nicotine in a smaller concentration than that of a cigarette. This can assist smokers in giving up smoking. The American Lung Association advises that smokers use nicotine meds to help them quit smoking. Smokers usually can only obtain this medication with a prescription from a doctor. Smokers also need to check out all of their options and choose between, for example, a patch or a gum.

Most people will experience nicotine withdrawal symptoms once they are on stop smoking programs. With these withdrawals, they may experience problems such as headaches, nicotine cravings, anxiety, and jitteriness. These experiences are normal and most stop smoking programs take this into account.

Nicotine medication such as nicotine gum or nicotine patches should help with these problems. However, under no circumstances should a smoker attempting to quit smoking have even just one more cigarette. They should stay away from cigarettes, using their friends and family as moral support.

Many people who try to quit smoking make two or three attempts and if they are not successful tend to get discouraged. Though quitting smoking is not easy and may require more effort on your part, it doesn’t necessarily mean that if you can’t quit initially you can’t quit at all. One needs to be dedicated and focused towards quitting smoking. Trying different stop smoking programs each time is a good idea. For example, if you tried quitting the first time using nicotine gum, then the second time you should try the patch. Being dedicated to quitting and having a real desire to quit is the most important factor, though.

Quitting smoking is not easy but it can be made easier with stop smoking programs. Programs that require nicotine medication such as a nicotine patch or nicotine gum are usually the most successful. However, once again, note that you cannot quit smoking unless you are totally and completely dedicated toward reaching that goal.

When smokers attempt to quit the unhealthy smoking habit, headaches, anxiety, nervousness and cravings oftentimes surface as symptoms of their withdrawal. As a result, many smokes decide to utilize nicotine medications in an effort to ease their quitting attempts. For example, a stop smoking patch is one available method for many smokers attempting to quit for good. A stop smoking patch allows smokers to fight withdrawal symptoms.

If a smoker experiences the irritation, insomnia, fatigue, and headaches of nicotine withdrawal, a stop smoking patch can help prevent this. When you use the nicotine patch, you can often avoid the withdrawal symptoms that normally come with trying to quit smoking. This allows you to concentrate on what is more important, and smokers can more easily change ingrained behaviors that led them to smoke. The patch also helps to overcome the psychological factors that make people have a hard time when they try to stop smoking.

Nicotine patches should only be used to help someone to kick the habit and stop smoking. If someone continues to smoke and takes nicotine patches, they actually receive an increased amount of nicotine, increasing the risk of harm. Using a nicotine patch can be an effective and safe way to stop smoking if used properly. The patch works by placing it on a smooth area of skin on the upper body. Drawbacks to the patch include experiencing side effects, and even overdosing on the nicotine. If you are going to use a nicotine patch to stop smoking, you must be sure to place it on a dry area, such as the stomach, chest or upper arm. Remember to replace your patch daily as it can only be used for between 16 and 24 hours.

It is necessary to use a different nicotine patch every day. Remembering to use a new patch is easier if it is part of a daily routine. Always talk to a physician before taking any medications like the stop smoking patch. Based on how severe your symptoms of withdrawal are, you may be able to use patches up to 12 weeks, but this decision must be made with your physician.

There are many side effects associated with stop smoking patches. Difficulty sleeping, , dry mouth, burning or itching at the patch site, swelling at the patch site, sweating or skin rash are some of the minor side effects that may be experienced.

Significant side effects of the stop smoking patch are cold sweats, breathing difficulties, bad dreams, skin irritations and seizures. If you have serious side effects you should go to the doctor right away. This could be the result of absorbing excess nicotine through the stop smoking patch.

Be sure to tell your doctor if you’ve had any recent heart problems, such as irregular heartbeat, rapid heartbeat or heart disease. Other health problems you should inform your doctor of are diabetes, hypertension or stomach ulcers. Knowing these things can help your doctor decide if you will benefit from using nicotine patches. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use stop smoking patches.

Millions of people decide to quit smoking each other. Smoking, after all, takes up a ton of time and money. And it comes with a whole package, it seems, of health risks, including lung cancer among other illnesses and diseases. So is it any wonder than many people decide to stop smoking? Quitting smoking is not as easy as 1, 2, 3, but hypnosis to stop smoking may offer a solution to those who want to quit and are having trouble with other treatments.

Because of the addiction a smoker has to the nicotine, it can be difficult to stop smoking if they decide to quit. Some methods When a smoker decides to quit smoking, they’ll find they are physically and mentally addicted to the nicotine. The cravings for nicotine lead to withdrawal symptoms. Those quitting smoking may decide to use the nicotine patch or pill. However, these methods of nicotine delivery means do not always work and can reinforce the need for nicotine. Hypnosis to stop smoking, on the other hand, seeks to redress the underlying reasons that a person smokes.

Hypnosis used to help people stop smoking can induce a state of stress free relaxation. During this process the person being hypnotized can be directed to focus on solving a problem or fixing a situation. In this relaxed mental state, the person can examine their subconscious and get to the root of the problem, ultimately improving it. They can effectively reprogram their subconscious mind, which will then modify their behavior once they’re no longer hypnotized. No other method allows an individual to reach his or her subconscious mind. That is why hypnosis is so amazing in helping people who desire to stop smoking.

Any person can utilize self-hypnosis to quit smoking. Hypnosis, unlike what you may have seen in the movies, is not a magical trance. You are using self-hypnosis whenever you enter your subconscious mind. Here is an example. You are busy and have plenty of things to do. As you leave work, you start thinking about all of the things you need to take care of once you arrive home. In reality, your brain is so overwhelmed that you can barely think about getting to your house. Your body does it on autopilot without conscious instruction. Once you arrive home, you are sometimes shocked at the fact that you don’t even recall when you entered the car. This is similar to self-hypnosis and can be used to your advantage when you quit smoking.

Self-hypnosis is something anybody can do to quit smoking. Using nicotine patches and gums can only do so much. These help you to overcome the obvious effects of smoking. Stop smoking aids such as these only assist you in battling the physical symptoms of withdrawal, making it more tolerable. Self-hypnosis, on the other hand, can help you quit for good. You will be able to reprogram your thoughts and feelings regarding smoking by relaxing your body and entering into your unconscious mind to eliminate the desire to smoke.

Hypnosis allows you to undo all the positive feelings your body understands as a result of smoking, and instead replace these thoughts with a rational, anti-smoking attitude. If your subconscious mind accepts the fact that smoking is bad for you, then your conscious self will act on this and you will stop smoking.

Hypnosis can help you control the stress that comes out of the withdrawal period for nicotine withdrawal. This will help with the physical symptoms as surely as any stop smoking aid. All in all, hypnosis to stop smoking can be an effective choice for those smokers looking to quit.

Most smokers will eventually come to realize that continuing to smoke their life away just isn’t worth their time and effort. After all, smoking is known to be atrocious for your health, bringing about such conditions as bad breath, stained yellow teeth and even lung cancer. And yet, it is not quite that easy to stop smoking. So what then is the best way to stop smoking?

Frequently, when a serious smoker tries to stop smoking, they experience withdrawal symptoms including headaches, depression, cravings, headaches, anxiety, and nervousness. These symptoms of withdrawal make it difficult to stop smoking. But nevertheless, it is important enough for many people to stop smoking that they actively look for the best way to stop smoking.

The best way to stop smoking is to change your thinking process. A large part of an addiction is mental; it’s all about perspective. Once you realize, truly, deep down realize that you need and want to quit, then it is easier to quit. You can throw your cigarettes away and never look back, getting through your withdrawal symptoms with more ease because you know that you need to stop smoking. So just wake up and realize that you need to quit.

Try to be positive. If you tell yourself that quitting smoking is going to be a painful, long process, then it will be harder to quit. On the other hand, if you are positive and tell yourself that it will be simple, and quick, with a ton of benefits after it’s all over, then quitting will seem simpler and quicker.

You point of view can completely alter your whole experience. Were you ever in a situation where you needed to pass a test and yet before you started, you had already said to yourself that you were not going to pass? Often you couldn’t pass. However, when you put yourself in that situation and confidently tell yourself that you can indeed do it, it is far more likely that you will accomplish your goal. This same philosophy holds true for quitting smoking. This is how positive thinking can help you and is probably the best way to stop smoking. Enjoy a night on the town, without having to take a smoking break. You gain more time and flexibility when you stop smoking.

When you do stop smoking, the symptoms can include headaches, anxiety and cravings. Remember that you do not want to smoke anymore and remind yourself why. Instead of being miserable, do something constructive. Hit the gym. Visit friends and family.

You can quit smoking today if you just put your mind to it. Throw those cigarettes away and don’t go out and buy new ones. Quitting smoking can happen overnight and it can be easy and even enjoyable if you make it so. A positive attitude is all it takes to get rid of your smoking addiction. The best way to stop smoking, after all, is by adopting an optimistic viewpoint and knowing that you are fully capable of doing it.

If you convince yourself that it will be difficult to quit smoking, then you will probably be right.

Ask yourself this: Why do the majority of people think that it’s so difficult to quit smoking?

FEAR!

FEAR of not being able to compliment your meal with a smoke.

FEAR of not being able to have a smoke with your morning coffee.

FEAR of being a complete and utter misery if you are without your little friend for more than a few hours.

FEAR that you won’t be able to cope with the stressful incidents that life constantly throws at us.

It’s a wonder anyone even attempts to quit smoking isn’t it? But quit they do. Every day, hundreds of people worldwide are freeing themselves from the slavery of smoking.

Consider this statement. The biggest hurdle you need to jump, in order to quit smoking, is the fear of quitting smoking. Get it into your mind that there is nothing, i mean absolutely nothing to be scared of. You need to flip that emotion and actually embrace quitting, look forward to the day you become a non-smoker, rejoice in the fact. It’s something to be proud of! Once you’ve conditioned yourself to fear nothing then you are a non-smoker as soon as you distinguish that final cigarette.

“What about going through withdrawal symptoms?!”

“I’m an addict”

“How do you expect me to quit for a lifetime, when I struggle without a cigarette after a few hours?”

That’s the fear i’m talking about, which is in fact created by smoking. That’s right, you are under a spell, you have been conned i’m afraid. Smoking doesn’t make a meal taste any better. Smoking doesn’t relieve stress – it causes stress! It’s like wearing a bracelet that is too small and digs into your wrist so that you can feel the relief when you take it off!

I will concede one fact though. Nicotine is an addictive drug. There’s no denying that. But how easy is it to withdraw from? I mean, how bad are the withdrawal symptoms?

Stomach pains? NO!

Hot and cold sweats? I’M AFRAID NOT!

High temperature or fever? NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

Here’s the good news, there are no major physical withdrawal pangs when qutitting nicotine. The worst you will suffer is a feeling of slight insecurity and restlessness. This empty feeling is very similar to hunger and is really easy to overcome if you get your mind right in the first place. In any case, these feelings will completely subside within a month or so worst case.

To summarize, you really have to understand the reasons why you are “hooked” in the first place so that you can overcome the fear. Don’t be afraid – look forward to it and embrace it. If you can do this then you will have taken one of the biggest steps to stop smoking.
